More Than a Name!

More Than a Name!

...if you continue in my Word, then are you my disciples... John 8:31

Accra is a Christian city! How do I know? Just look around you. Busses, cars, buildings, and businesses all proclaim Christian names and slogans!

Look at that bus; "Rejoice in the Lord" is written boldly across the front. There's a bus with "Emmanuel" in huge letters across the back. And there is "God Is Love Meat Shop." And "God First" air conditioning service. And "His Grace Fashion Design Shop." And "Show Your Love Beer Bar." And... Wait a minute! "Show Your Love Beer Bar?"

Anyone can call a business by a Christian name. Anyone can put a fish symbol on their car; or a "Honk if you love Jesus" sticker on a bumper. It takes more than a name to make a business Christian, more than a sticker to build a testimony, more than a confession to demonstrate the life-changing power of the Gospel.

Accra is NOT a Christian city! The words are right, and visible, and bold-but often empty! They lack substance. They don't express reality. How sad for a city. How much sadder for a person.

I know the lingo. I can talk the talk. I can say the buzz words. But do I demonstrate the reality? Do I really have the substance?

Is my Christianity a name merely hung on an empty life, or a reflection of the reality of God's grace within?

Dear Jesus, I pray that my Christianity will be more than a show; that what others see on the outside will be a true reflection of your work in me. Amen.
